…from the Perspectives’ Summertime Happy Hour Bar![]() How you doin’? Just in time for your 4th of July celebrations, today’s Happy Hour libation is both cocktail and milkshake. This recipe always rates 5 out of 5 stars in my book. It’s a combination of my favorite single malt scotch, ice cream, chocolate syrup and malted milk powder—a bizarre combination you might say, but not really. As strange as it might seem, my poor old Uncle Herb had a stomach problem but still loved his scotch. The problem was the scotch would enflame his ulcer leaving him in a lot of pain. Someone suggested he might want to try adding a little milk to his scotch and it seemed to work well for him. He started messing around in his kitchen and discovered that milk also helped his ulcer when he ate a piece of chocolate. He combined them both, added a little malt from his favorite shake when he was a kid and discovered the Scotch & Chocolate Malted Cocktail. You’ll find the Scotch & Chocolate Malted Cocktail is creamy, classic, delicious, quick, easy and will become very popular in your own personal tavern. You can even control the milkshake consistency by blending until it flows just right. All the ingredients are in your kitchen calling your name right now. Just blend, pour, garnish and enjoy a couple of tall ones with people that mean the most to you. Prep time: 5 minutes Yields: 2 (12 ounce) cocktails Ingredients 5 scoops good quality vanilla or chocolate ice cream (about 2-3 cups) 1/2 cup ice cold milk 4 tablespoons malted milk powder 1/4 cup Hershey's Chocolate Syrup 2 ounces of single malt scotch (or to taste) 2 tablespoons broken English toffee garnish (optional) Directions
ChefSecret: Personally I love the taste of malt, but some may not share my zeal. It’s easy to still have a great scotch shake without the malt. Also, for the perfect mocktail for the kids, leave out scotch. Just be sure you know which glasses are which! Quip of the Day: “Whoever said that laughter is the best medicine clearly had never tasted a good scotch.” ------------------------------------------- Do you have a question or comment?
